Perth Part 3 (Final Part)
Our time in Perth has finally come to an end, near on 4 months of it and apart from the 1st couple of weeks when we could not get settled or jobs and just felt damn miserable, we have had an amazing time. We've met some wonderful people and made some very good friends, of course we've met the odd arsehole (most worked in the Real Estate Agency we were renting our house from).
In the last few weeks before leaving i managed to catch up with Gary (Irish) and family, an old friend i used to work with before he moved out here 8 years ago. It was great to catch up, the banter started instantly and we were straight back to our old ways of micky taking. To be fair he hadn't changed much other than his sentences finishing in a high pitch and a couple of extra chins he's managed to pick up from all the barbi's and stubbies (sorry pal but it had to be told) We also got to meet his wife Nicky and their gorgeous children and gary's parents!
We had many highlights in western australia too many too mention . I guess one of the most spectacular sunsets was at cottosloe beach completely cloudy one minute to the reddest sky you have ever seen, absolutely amazing. A candlelight tour to freemantle prison was one of the most scariest experiences ever at one point i even leaped onto lee in the dark screaming v funny but i guess you had to be there. The prison is where all the first convicts came from the uk and ireland to finish there sentance off most convicts were guility of stealing ie pocket watches which got them a sentance of ten years back in the day! The prison finally closed in 1991 and is now a working museum the guy who took us round with our torches that hardly worked was an ex prison guard so he had some fascinating tales to tell.
well after fourteen weeks of work which felt like an eternity we finally quit our jobs thank goodness no more call centre operating work for me! Defintiely going to miss the people we have worked with they have made going to work a bearable task especailly all the laughs we have had along the way! In tradition we both had yet another leaving party for mine we went out after work for beers and cannot remember leaving and for Lee's he had a huge bbq after work with all the gang each both resulting in major hangovers! but good memories!
Would just like to take this opportunity to say a huge thankyou especially to Jules and Jeremy and their families for their great hospitality and friendship throughout our time in WA.
